A Weston, Wis., garbage truck collided with a pickup truck early Thursday morning in Marathon County, Wis., authorities said. Police said the accident occurred just before 5 a.m. on Camp Phillips Road at Schofield Avenue.

The pickup truck was traveling north, authorities said, and the garbage truck was traveling west when the two collided. The driver of the pickup truck was transported by ambulance to Saint Claire's Hospital in Weston with injuries, authorities said.

A two-vehicle crash left four people injured Sunday afternoon on Hwy. 71 near Angelo, Wis., authorities said. Police said a car driven by a 34-year-old woman rear-ended a sport utility vehicle that had stopped to turn into a driveway. The car's driver and the the 65-year-old driver of the SUV were both injured, authorities said, as well as the two passengers in the car, ages 21 and 15.

They were taken by ambulance to the Franciscan Skemp Hospital in Sparta, Wis., with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The car's driver was then transferred to Gunderson Hospital in La Cross, Wis., authorities said. Police said that no one in the car was wearing a safety belt at the time of the accident. Police are still investigating the crash.

The investigation into a fatal Dumpster fire in December is expected to conclude by the end of April, authorities said. Firefighters were fighting a fire inside the Dumpster outside a manufacturing company when it exploded, killing one firefighter and injuring eight others. Authorities are planning another test they want to run before the end of April, which they expect will be the last part of the investigation.

Authorities do not know what caused the fire, but they said the explosion was caused by a combination of water from the fire hoses and a burning container of metal byproducts in the Dumpster. The fire has been ruled accidental. Officials said that 17 firefighters were within 50 feet of the Dumpster when it exploded.

A 10-year-old boy was hit by a car as he was crossing the street on his bicycle Wednesday morning in Mosinee, Wis., authorities said. Police said a vehicle was stopped in traffic, preparing to turn, when a sport utility vehicle behind it attempted to drive around the stopped car. The SUV then hit the boy on his bicycle as it drove around, authorities said.

Reports say the boy was conscious when police arrived, but he was taken by ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, police said. Reports say he was not crossing at an intersection. Police are still investigating the accident.
