Hunting accidents more likely to be caused by young hunters
Posted on Monday, November 21st, 2011 at 6:51 pm
Analysis of hunting accidents in the state of Wisconsin shows that young hunters are more likely to be responsible for a shooting accident. The report states that 18 percent of licensed hunters across the state are at or below 21-years-old. Yet, this 18 percent has been linked to 27 percent of shooting accidents in the last ten years in Wisconsin.
These young hunters are also responsible for 5 of the 30 fatal shooting accidents that have taken place. Most of these accidents were caused by individuals who had completed the Wisconsin hunter safety course. The safety surrounding hunting in Wisconsin is at a great level but there are still instances where safety is just simply overlooked.
This hunting season it is crucial to be careful when operating hunting equipment and to always be aware of your surroundings.

Deer create hazards on Wisconsin roads
Posted on Monday, November 14th, 2011 at 5:16 pm
Wisconsin has a large population of deer and it has already been determined that accidents involving these animals are on the rise this year.
The last two years have shown a steady increase in accidents and fatalities resulting from contact with deer. The month of November is a dangerous time for these accidents because mating season for deer is in full swing. Deer are constantly in motion during this time and it is up to drivers to stay safe on the roads.
Over 16,900 accidents that took place in Wisconsin last year were a direct result of deer-car collisions. This number is only expected to rise in the coming weeks.

Car accident kills 2 in Pewaukee
Posted on Monday, November 7th, 2011 at 6:41 pm
This weekend in Pewaukee, a car accident left two dead. The car accident happened on I-94 just after midnight when a car traveling the wrong way crashed into a car.
Four separate police vehicles tried to stop the car from causing any harm after being notified by several people on the highway of the wrong-way driver. Both drivers that were involved were pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is being conducted but as of now, there is no sign of alcohol being a factor. The driver of the vehicle that was struck was a 41-year-old husband who had three children. His widow is devastated and doesn’t know what to tell their children who also feels sorry for the other victim. The operator of the vehicle going the wrong-way was a 44-year-old Wisconsin woman.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims’ family and friends during this difficult time.
