Falling at the Office

Getting hurt in your workplace is not as uncommon as you might think. Even if your office has a first aid kit and some one certified in CPR, there are many office injuries that this cannot take care of, and can become very serious over time. Work place injuries can include anything from repetitive strain injuries (RSI) to slips and falls.

In office type workplaces, RSIs are very common due to constant use of the keyboard, the mouse, and the monitor. These types of injuries develop over time and can seriously damage the hands and eyes.

In other types of work environments, falls are the most common type of accident. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does a study every year on what the most common types of injuries are for the country. Falling in or around the workplace is almost always the accident that is most common.

Unfortunately, these types of injuries do not just affect the person during the fall, but often disable the person, and prevent them from working. These workers can receive workers compensation from their employer, but it is no replacement for actually working.

To avoid this fate, make sure to be careful when walking on stairs or at great heights. Falls can be extremely serious and is not always your fault.
