Scooter Cop Nabs DWI Suspect

by Administrator 29. July 2008 05:07
A police officer on a Segway scooter nabbed a DWI suspect in Jackson, Michigan recently. The police officer was cruising the streets of Jackson around 4 in the morning when he noticed an individual driving erratically. He quickly zoomed over on his Segway scooter and made the stop. Jackson Police have told local news agencies that this was the first arrest made by an officer on a Segway. Segway scooters are the 2-wheeled, electronic, upright motorized vehicles popular for city tours. The officer noticed the driver of the car travelling at a high speed on one of the streets. When the car stopped at an intersection, he went over to the car and realized the driver had been drinking. The driver was an 18-year old individual who was arraigned on charges of operating while intoxicated.  The Segway has been in possession of the Segway for roughly a month. The police department is looking into using Segways as an alternative to gas-guzzling patrol cars. If you have been injured in an accident involving a drunk driver, contact the Wausau personal injury lawyers of Habush, Habush, & Rottier at 1-800-248-0171 to discuss your case and to determine your legal options.

Remote Starters Recalled

by Administrator 21. July 2008 06:07
Remote Starters in cars manufactured by Autostart have been recalled. The recall affects automatic starters present in cars with manual transmissions. The problem is that when cars with a manual transmission are started remotely, they can lurch forward. This is particularly a problem when the car's transmission is left in gear and the parking brake is applied. The recall affects roughly 21,000 vehicles. The products being recalled are branded under the names of Autostart, Polar Start, extreme, Orbit, Nordic Start, and Command Start. A less likely problem occurs when the car is started in a confined area. The emissions can result in a build up of carbon monoxide in the area which can trigger problems. If you have been injured by a lurching remotely started car, contact the Wausau product defect lawyers of Habush, Habush, & Rottier at 1-800-247-0171 to discuss your situation and to determine your legal options.

Toy Chest Kills Toddler

by Administrator 16. July 2008 02:07

A 22-month-old boy was killed in an accident involving his toy chest.  The California toddler died from strangulation after the lid of the toy chest attached to his bed fell on the back of his head, entrapping his neck on the edge of the chest.

That toy chest was part of a LaJolla Boat Bed.  Since the incident both the LaJolla Boat Bed and Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle beds have been recalled.

The hazard lies in the lid support for the toy chest that fails to prevent the lid from closing to quickly.  This causes the threat of a child being entrapped or strangulated.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop their children from using the toy chest.  Families should contact the firm Bayside Furnishings for instructions on receiving a repair kit with replacement lid supports.

If your child has been injured by the toy chest from the LaJolla Boat Bed or Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle beds, please contact the Wausau Product Liability lawyers at Habush, Habush, & Rottier at 1-800-248-0171 to discuss your case and to determine your legal options.
