According to officials with the Rothschild Police Department, 23 year-old Bryan J. Schulta was issued a $731 citation for driving a vehicle while under the influence of a restricted substance. Police say Shulta drove his Volkswagen Jetta through the Shopko plaza's glass and brick exterior wall, across the interior hallway, and through the Shopko optical shop's glass doors shortly before 11:00 a.m. Thursday.

Schulta was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.

One person inside the optical store was hurt by falling debris from the crash. The nature and extent of their injury has not been released.

Officers found drug paraphernalia in Schulta's vehicle after the accident. Authorities are awaiting the results of a blood test.
