Jaws of Life Called to Wausau Motor Vehicle Accident

A woman was seriously injured in a head-on motor vehicle accident inWausau Tuesday morning.

According to officials with the Marathon County Sheriff’sDepartment, the accident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. at the intersectionof Highway 29 and 152nd Avenue, east of Wausau. Marathon County Sheriff’sLieutenant Dale Wisniewski said emergency responders called in the Jaws of Lifeto extract a woman from her vehicle.

According to Wisniewski, the woman, who has not beenidentified, was injured but conscious and talking to responders after themotor vehicle accident. The Marathon County Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extricatethe woman from her vehicle, which was described by authorities as totaled.

The injured driver was transported by ambulance to AspirusWausau Hospital for treatment. The nature of her injuries is not known.

The accident remains under investigation by the MarathonCounty Sheriff’s Department.
