7 Million Candles Recalled for Burn Hazard

The government announced Wednesday a recall of more than 7million tea lights due to burn hazard.

According to a statement issued by the Consumer ProductSafety Commission, tea lights imported by Pacific Trade International featureclear plastic cups that can melt and even ignite, posing fire and risk buns.The company has received one report of a melting cup while the candle was inuse, the statement said. No damage or injury was reported in the incident.

The affected tea lights were sold under the Chesapeake Bay Candleand Modern Light brand names, according to the CPSC. The candles come invarious colors and in sets or with tea light containers. The candles were soldnationwide at Fred Meyer, Home Goods, Marshalls, Super Value, Target, TJ Maxx,and Wegmans stores from July 2009 to February 2011.

Consumers should return the tea lights to the store wherethey were purchased for a store merchandise card equal to the purchase price.
